इस बार गणतंत्र-दिवस के अवसर पर पद्मश्री सम्मान से सम्मानित होने वालों में अत्यंत लोकप्रिय पॉप सिंगर श्रीमती उषा उत्थुप का नाम भी अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण है. उनके द्वारा १४ भारतीय भाषाओँ में गाया गया गीत अनन्या (अब हमको आगे बढ़ना है, अपना इतिहास बदलना है...) अब तक देश-विदेश में काफ़ी लोकप्रिय हो चुका है. हिंदी के मूल गीत को श्रेया घोषाल ने फिल्म संगीतकार आदेश श्रीवास्तव के संगीत में गाया है. अन्य अंग्रेजी तथा भारतीय भाषाओँ में ऊषा उत्थुप के संगीत में उनके अतिरिक्त शुभा मालगुडी, चिन्मय, कार्तिक, क्रिष्णमूर्थी, बीसेंट, तथा पंजाबी में ऋचा शर्मा ने गाया है. भारत सरकार में महिला एवं बाल-विकास मंत्रालय के इस थीम-सॉंग को लिखा है  जाने-माने कथाकार, पत्रकार, शायर तथा समाज कल्याण के संपादक डॉ.रंजन जैदी ने. nfpma परिवार की ओर से श्रीमती ऊषा उत्थुप को अनेकानेक शुभकमनाएं. 

On Friday, as the 10th and final day of Muharram drew to a close with the observing of Ashura — a day specifically dedicated to the memory of the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, a seventh century Muslim cleric and grandson of the Prophet Mohammad — not many in Pune knew that among the lakhs of Muslims who observed Muharram in the city is a small but close-knit community of Punjabi Brahmin immigrants, whose ancestors fought alongside Imam Hussain in Karbala (now in modern Iraq).     Since the Battle of Karbala in 680 AD, this community — around 500-member strong — has taken the prefix of ‘Hussaini’, and call themselves the Hussaini Brahmins.     According to the members of this community, one of their ancestors, Rahab Dutt, travelled all the way to Arabia where he became a disciple of Imam Hussain.
